Presentation:
This finger pulse oximeter measures arterial oxygen saturation (SpO2), which is also called available hemoglobin saturation (% SpO2) and heart rate. These are some of the most important vital functions along with blood pressure, respiratory rate and body temperature.
The level of saturation in the blood (SpO2) is an important value indicating the flow of oxygen to the body, especially the brain. Many diseases interfere with oxygen saturation in the blood and with the normal supply of oxygen. With a finger pulse oximeter, users can quickly and accurately determine their oxygen concentration.
Measurement method:
This pulse oximeter works by measuring the absorption of red (usually 660 nm) and infrared light (usually 940 nm) through the area of arterial flow according to the Lumberd-Beer law. Because the absorption characteristics of the oxygenated and non-oxygenated hemoglobin (O2Hb and Hb) are different, the absorbance measurements are used to determine the saturation of the hemoglobin.
